– Danganronpa (Japanese: ダンガンロンパ) is a video game franchise created and developed by Spike Chunsoft (formerly Spike) for the PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, iOS, Android and home computers. – Junko Enoshima was once homeless.
– Mondo Owada loves dogs, and when he was younger he had a Maltese named Chuck.
– Sakura Oogami has a boyfriend named Kenshiro.
– A 2012 issue of Gamers, a Korean game magazine, ran a SDR2 walkthrough, in which they treated Mahiru x Souda as a canon couple.
– The scenario writer for Dangan Ronpa, Kodaka Kazutaka, has a personality very similar to Kazuichi Souda.
– Originally, Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu was going to be a murder victim and Hiyoko Saionji was going to be a survivor. However, they were swapped fairly late in development because the developers realized that killing off Fuyuhiko would make Peko Pekoyama’s sacrifice meaningless. This explains why Hiyoko’s death is rushed and why the characters didn’t bother searching for her murder weapon.
– In the official Dangan Ronpa/SDR2/Dangan Ronpa Zero favorite character vote, Hinata came in second, despite only having being in fourth place in the SDR2 vote. Why? It’s because they thought he had a cute forehead…
– Mondo Owada’s execution is a reference to a children’s story call “Little Black Sambo”. It is about a kid named Sambo who’s walking alone one day when he draws the attention of a group of tigers. He gives them his clothes so he can get on their nice side and not get eaten. But the tigers start fighting each other over who looks better, and then chase each other in a circle until they start going so fast that they turn into butter. Sambo brings the butter back home to his mom to make pancakes. Mondo’s execution is symbolic, where in this case, Mondo is compared to a tiger. The tiger is usually a strong, formidable enemy, but in the story they’re reduced to butter. Mondo gives off the image of being the strongest, when in reality he isn’t.
– The producer wanted a scene in the game where Kirigiri cuts her hair short. In the end, this idea was scrapped.
– In the beta stages of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Junko was the first to die. Then the beta victim was switched to Kirigiri, and finally to Hagakure.
